Leonora's Bestiary · Leonora Carrington's universe, on stage.
Written by Adriana Enriquez, a play inspired by the universe of Leonora Carrington. Every Monday at 7:30 pm at Foro Off Spring, San Rafael, Mexico City.
Foro Off Spring is an independent small-capacity theater space in the San Rafael neighbourhood, a few minutes' walk from Metro San Cosme. Its approach is close-up theater: the audience sits near the performer, without the distance of a large hall, so every gesture and every pause lands fully. On Mondays the 7:30 pm show is the only one of the night, which leaves time to arrive calmly and to stay and talk afterwards. The venue is at Av. Francisco Pimentel 14, in an area with cafes and small restaurants to close the night.
Leonora's Bestiary is a play inspired by the universe of Leonora Carrington, the surrealist artist who made Mexico her home and whose work is full of impossible animals, women who fly, kitchens turned into laboratories and creatures that resist any explanation. The text is by Adriana Enriquez, and the performance runs every Monday at 7:30 pm at Foro Off Spring, in the San Rafael neighbourhood of Mexico City, a small-capacity venue where the stage sits a few metres from the audience. Because it is a weekly show there is no single date: there is a performance every Monday. Entry works on a voluntary conscious contribution, the cooperative model this independent venue uses to sustain its programme.
