The Experience

The Embarcadero Fernando Celada is one of the largest and most accessible piers in Xochimilco, and the departure point for trajineras heading to the Laguna del Toro and the chinampa zone. In Day of the Dead season, La Caja de Luz and Santuario Ajolote run a route where La Catrina leads you between lit canals, chinampas and marigold fields while telling the legends of Xochimilco. It is a close-up, small-group format on a traditional boat, designed to live the tradition respectfully and with a positive environmental impact.

About the Event

The tour runs in three formats. The Saturday Legends Tour is a 3-hour group ride on a traditional trajinera, with departures at 10:00 am and 5:00 pm: La Catrina guides you through the canals of Xochimilco with legends for the whole family, at $380 per person. On Sundays the crossing lasts 4 hours and adds a visit to the cempasúchil fields of the Ejecatl chinampa, at $650 per person. The Private Tour costs $6,000 for up to 18 people, ideal for families, friends or companies, and can include a horror legend route for adults. Your visit also helps conserve the Mexican axolotl: every tour contributes to wetland restoration, axolotl conservation and the chinampero communities that keep Xochimilco alive.
