Legends and apparitions in the city's cemetery
Cultural night walk through the Panteón Municipal Juan de la Luz Enríquez, in downtown Orizaba, with stories of apparitions among the tombs of historic figures of the city. The most requested story is that of the Niña del ángel, the girl who walks the cemetery at night, but the walk also covers the graves of those who wrote the history of Orizaba. In the regular season the date is Fridays and Saturdays at 8:30 pm; in holiday season the walk expands to Thursday to Sunday, with shows at 8:30 and 10:00 pm. The ticket costs $50 MXN.
You arrive at the cemetery with the city already dark and the walk moves among the tombs while the guide unfolds the stories: who each person buried there was, what is told about them and why the Niña del ángel became the most famous legend of the cemetery. It is a calm night walk, to take at an unhurried pace, that works as well for locals as for anyone visiting the city and wanting to know its oldest side.
The Panteón Municipal de Orizaba opens at night to tell its legends. A guide walks the cemetery with you among tombs and mausoleums while telling the apparitions and the stories of the historic figures buried there; the best known is the Niña del ángel. Orizaba shows off its legends as part of its Pueblo Mágico identity, and this walk is the most direct way to discover them.
